Tilly`s Diner in Monticello

So glad they finally expanded this place. There is usually no place to sit because it's the only decent diner left. I ordered an apple walnut salad and I felt like I was eating for an hour and barely putting a dent in it. Usually these types of salads are a bed of lettuce with a sprinkle of odds and ends on top but I was seriously impressed. Lots of cranberries, walnuts, blue cheese, and chicken. Really a nice salad.

Good food at fair prices. Desserts exquisite! My only gripe is with an order of breaded shrimp which came unshelled (discovered only after biting into the morsels). Clean bathrooms and friendly staff. Very convenient locations just off Routes 42 and 17, with ample parking out front. Wi-fi available. The Sullivan County Libertarian Party convened here for the first time on December 15th, 2019.

Awesome little diner. Great food. And the staff are friendly and hilarious. Cow boy burger, chicken franchase with mash potatoes and shakes are a must try.

You wouldn't think a diner can slay Italian food but Tilly's totally DOES! Try the Penne a la Vodka! You can thank me later. They even have decent red wine blends and cabs - what diner actually has that?! Their tacos are amazing if they are on special - get em - its like they have a secret menu of amazing dishes. The wraps are phenooooominal too. Go off the regular "diner" menu and you'll be really surprised.

A true Monticello asset. Been here several times and was never disappointed by the food or the service or the price. Today I had a delicious Pepper Steak. And their Apple Crumb Pie, truly homemade with fresh (not canned) apples. The best I have had in a very long time. As good as my grandmother's! And their coffee has always been fresh and good.

Happen to stop here on my way back from upstate NY. Food was real style home cooked meals that tasted great and reasonably priced. The waitress that served us was a real hoot we really enjoyed the experience and would recommend to anyone travelling down rtr17 in Ny.

Go good. A receptionist at the kartrite recommended this after having a not so good experience at their restaurant. We lived it so much we came back the next day

Grass Roots diner....great comfort food

A classic railroad car diner. The food was great, and reasonable priced. A good atmosphere and friendly staff made it more enjoyable. Not to far off 17 to be inconvenient. Once again if your on a long trip it's worth stopping if you're passing through.

Great local place, food consistently good, friendly staff, owner works the griddle, family run, inexpensive, hometown small diner feel for sure. If you're in Monticello, you have to go to Tilly's.

Good, classic diner food. Love all the old Elvis pictures and album covers on the walls.Unfortunately, the service leaves a lot to be desired. One of the waitresses seems to be perpetually unhappy to be working there. Supposedly closes at 10 PM, yet I was turned away at 9:40 for a burger deluxe to go (by the aforementioned waitress.) Was told they were closed, even though there were still customers eating. I understand that maybe they start cleaning up the kitchen before 10, but there should be some notification. If you want a good meal, and are willing to gamble on the service, Tilly's is not the worst option.

Tilly's is the all time best diner ever!! Chico has been there from the very beginning, starting as the dish washer at 15 years of age on to becoming the Owner/Operator, creating a truly successful and well run establishment.Their menu ranges from typical diner food to amazing Italian dishes with 'home made' mozzarella cheese and thick tomato sauce to a wonderful variety of pies, cakes and puddings~I cannot say enough about Chico's hard earned work and determination to create the all time best diner, a place of comfort both physically, aesthetically, and your taste buds will thank you!!

We were staying at a water park nearby and went here on a whim last minute, so glad we did! Everything was so fresh and seasoned perfectly! I got one of the specials which came with chicken noodle soup and a challah bread roll. The soup was exactly as good as my mom and I would have made ours, the challah bread was perfect, too. The chicken that I ordered was absolutely heavenly, fall off the bone, melt in your mouth! I wish I lived closer and could eat here more often! Best diner food I've ever had, by far!

The food was great, way better than i expect at a dinner. Potato soup was sooo good, lots of cheese and bacon! The staff was amazing! I would definitely go back!

We love to eat here! The food is always great. We have never been disappointed with any meal so far. The service is also great! They are warm and friendly with prompt attention. The portions are good and the prices are reasonable. We love the coffee as well.

Great little diner with a 60's through 80's theme. Food was great, our waitress was really kind and we'd definitely recommend others stop by if you're in the area. The counter is fun because you can watch the food being made!

The food is good but they could make it better. They should press the breakfast burrito instead of just leaving it and they could make sure the cheese in the omelet is in the omelet melted not on the plate for the customer to scrape off especially when you're paying extra for that cheese.
